Günther v. W., chairman of the board in a software company in Germany, got himself a beach bungalow in the bay of Atabay to spend his vacations there. When he retires, he will spend most time of the year there. He also uses his vacations to find new friends under the people of the village. Social engagement will follow to give new impulses to the region.
When Mr. v. W. is decided to spend most of the year here, he plans the construction of a bigger residence. If you like to visit us without obligation, you may rent this bungalow for 12.- $ per day (except the owner is here, but then we also have a visitors suite in our home).
Marina B., computer specialist from Munich, has built on the rocky
coast of Cancaya: "Casa Marina".
Bodo L., self employed "free lance" in
automation technique, moved in to their newly constructed domicile directly by the beach in spring 2001 together with his wife Marita. He is not
retired yet, but the international Airport Cebu nearby and the Internet allow him to earn
their "bread and butter" also under palm trees. In may 2004 he also
opened "Bodo`s Bamboo Bar", international cuisine with view to the
sea.
We, Lourdes, born in the Philippines, and Leif, born in Norway, are retired teachers. We met in Africa and got married there. Together we have work experience in Philippines, Ethiopia, Norway, Botswana and Tanzania. We have taught English, History, Domestic Science, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics. After living in Norway for a long period, we now like to live in the tropics again. We have therefore built our home at the beach in Atabay, Alcoy, Cebu. The Internet helps us to keep in contact with our former life.
Mike B. from the USA is the captain of a tugboat, mostly underway on the Atlantic sea. He likes to spend his time off the tugboat together with his Filipina wife, flying ultra light aircraft, swimming, reading, motorcycling, spending time on his idyllic property by the seashore.
Koos Z. (retired psychologist) from the Netherlands and his wife Zosi (retired commercial manager) from Cebu prefer the peaceful life in the province. Zosi likes to take care of the big garden, Koos is engaged in boating and playing golf. They enjoy designing the house and the garden and integrate them in the landscape.
Thomas J. and his family can enjoy their new home only in vacation, but retirement is around the corner!
